Brief Profile
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in the year 1997, since the inception of the institute. The department offers, BE in Computer Science and Engineering, MSc Engineering by Research, and Ph.D. programs in various specializations of Computer Science and Engineering. The total intake for the BE program is 180. The department has state-of-the-art laboratories and well-qualified faculty members. The program is designed to provide students a solid foundation of the core discipline of Computer Science, and electives are offered to provide hands-on and advanced knowledge in key emerging areas of study. The Department has a comprehensive curriculum on topics related to all aspects of Computer Hardware and Software with an emphasis on practical learning as prescribed by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. The course structure is in line with the latest advances in technology, which equip the students with the latest developments in Computer Science and Engineering. The graduated students from the department are working in reputed organizations across the Globe. The department has a VTU-recognized Research Centre. Students are encouraged to take up interdisciplinary research in various domains of computer science, like computer vision, Data Mining, Networking, high-performance computing, etc.

Program Outcome (POs)
- Engineering Knowledge:Apply the knowledge of Mathematics, Science, Engineering fundamentals, and an Engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
- Problem Analysis:Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyses complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Engineering sciences.
- Design/Development of Solutions:Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
- Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
- Modern Tool Usage:Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex Engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
- The Engineer and Society:Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
- Environment and Sustainability:Understand the impact of the professional Engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
- Ethics:Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities, and norms of the engineering practice.

Dr.Vidya A BE (CSE), ME (CSE), Ph.D. (CSE), FIE
Dr. Vidya A has 25+ years of teaching and 10 years of research experience. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from JNTUH, M.E in Computer Science and Engineering from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore University, B.E in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangalore University. She has published research papers in International Conferences and refereed International Journals. She has also received the best presentation award for her research paper. She is the reviewer for few Journals. Her name is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in Science and Engineering in 2011.
She is a Life Member of ISTE, IAENG and CSI. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers. Her research interest includes Data mining, Bioinformatics, Pattern Recognition, Internet of Things and Image Processing.

- The Department of Computer Science and Engineering congratulates, 8th semester CSE student Murali M for being qualified in GATE-2019.
- The Department of CSE congratulates VKIT Women’s Kabaddi team for securing 3rd place in VTU inter zone kabbadi(women) championship 2019 & securing 2nd place in VTU inter collegiate kabbadi\(women) tournament 2019 at Sai Vidya IT Banagalore.
- Department of CSE has conducted TCS TechBytes round 1 IT Quiz on 18/02/2019 from 00 PM to 12.30 PM. 51 Teams (102 Students) participated in the event from the departments of CSE, ISE, ECE, Civil & ME. Out of 51 teams, 10 Teams have been selected for Round 2. Round 1 was coordinated by Mrs. Chandramma, Assoc. Prof., Dept. of CSE. Round 2 was held at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore on 08/03/2019. Ten teams from Department of CSE, ISE & ECE along with Faculty coordinators S Suresh Kumar and Dinesh S D attended the event. Our College Team has won 7th place.
- 25 students have participated in online Quiz conducted by “SOOKSHMAS-2019” at VKIT Campus, Bangalore. Kiran P from 6th Sem CSE has secured 2nd place and received Rs. 20,000/- cash prize.
- 4th and 6th semester students (thirteen numbers) from CSE department have participated in various events during “HALCYON 2019” at Siddaganga Institute of Technology, on Tumkuru
- Six teams from 6th semester had participated in Quiz competition “AIT HACKED” at AIT Bangalore on 19th March 2019.
- One team from 6th semester had participated in gaming event in “FIFA-2019” at Christ University Bidadi on 1st March 2019. Shreyas and team from 6th sem CSE have secured 2nd
