Department of Computer Science and Engineering department was established in the year 1997 since the inception of the institute. The department offers, BE in Computer Science and Engineering, MSc Engineering by Research and Ph.D programs in Computer Science and Engineering. The total intake for the BE program is 90. The department has state of art laboratories and well qualified faculty members. The program is designed to provide students a solid foundation of the core discipline of Computer Science, and electives are offered to provide hands-on and advanced knowledge in key emerging areas of study. The graduated students from the department are working in reputed organizations across the Globe.

  • Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of Mathematics, Science, Engineering fundamentals, and an Engineering specialisation to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Engineering sciences.

Dr.Vidya A  BE (CSE), ME (CSE), Ph.D. (CSE), FIE

Dr. Vidya A has 22 +years of teaching and 10 years of research experience. She received her Ph.D in Computer Science and Engineering from JNTUH,  M.E in Computer Science and Engineering from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore University,B.E in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangalore University. She has published research papers in International Conferences and refereed International Journals. She has also received best presentation award for her research paper.She is the reviewer for few Journals. Her name is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in Science and Engineering in 2011.

She is the Life Member for ISTE, IAENG and CSI. She is a Fellow of Institute of Engineers. Her research interest includes Data mining, Bioinformatics,Pattern Recognition, Internet of Things and Image Processing.

  • Orientation program was conducted for 4th,6th and 8th semester students of Computer science and engineering at the beginning of Even semester held on 10-Feb-2020. The aim of this orientation session was to provide information about course, subjects, laboratories and guidelines regarding Internship, Industrial visit, Project work, Placement activities etc. Faculties interacted with the students on various aspects involved in smooth transition to engineering studies, branches in computer science engineering and interaction.   • The iTACS, Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Vivekananda Institute of Technology, Bangalore organized a competation on “Innovative Ideas on Brand Building of VKIT” on 20th February 2020 under the banner iTACS. 7 Students from all Departments (CSE, ISE, ECE, MECH, CIV) actively participated in the event and various ideas were discussed.

  • An intercollege event, HACKATHON-2020 on 11/03/2020 at VKIT Campus, organized by Dept. of CSE in association with SOOKSHMAS. Got very good response. A total of 36 teams has registered from various Universities, VTU affiliated colleges and Autonomous Institutions Had participants from BIT, Dr. AIT, BGSIT, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Jain University, SJBIT, RRCE, JVIT and VKIT. Out of these, 13 teams have been shortlisted for Day-2 which was held on 12th March. The first and third place won by BIT, Bangalore. And 2nd semester CSE team has won 2nd place.

  • ANTI-TERRORISM DAY” was celebrated at CSE Dept. on 21st May 2019 by taking Pledge and the activities issued by the UGC against terrorism were informed to the students.
  • The “FIFTH INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY” was a carousing day at VKIT by the presence of our chief guest Mr. Praksh Guruji a yoga guru and mane maddu expert along with our beloved principal Dr. Kumar Kenche Gowda, vice principal Dr. D V Chandrashekar followed by HOD’s of all the department of VKIT and other faculty, staff members and students. An event started with invocation song by Ms. Kavana student of 6th sem CSE. Next, anchor of the event, Prof. Lakshmikantha G C, Assistant professor, department of CSE invited the honourable Principal to welcome the gathering and introduce the chief guest.

The President of JES, H C Balakrishna, Vice-President of JES, Sri. K Puttaswamy, Hon’ble Secretary of JES,Sri. C N Manche Gowdaand the other committee members of JES were invited as chief guests. Our Principal showered his valuable words and shared his knowledge and the event was made a grand success.
  • “Independence Day”was celebrated in VKIT on 15 August 2019, which is been celebrated every year. This day was in VKIT was a very patriotic day.
  • “Sadbhavana Diwas” is a very auspicious day that was celebrated on 20 August 2019. This day commemorates the memory of our late erstwhile Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi. He was our sixth Prime Minister. Contributions to the betterment of our society are made on this day, paying respect to Gandhi and his vision for the country. He left a deep imprint on several hearts, not just with his persona, but also his inspiring words.

  • Vidya A, has submitted a proposal to VTU TEQIP cell for the program TEQIP 1.3 sponsored “Student Employability Program” for the duration of 3days. The proposal has been accepted and the amount sanctioned is Rs. 1.5 Lakhs. The training program was successfully completed on 3rd to 5th May 2019.

  • Department of CSE has conducted TCS TechBytes round 1 IT Quiz on 18/02/2019 from 00 PM to 12.30 PM. 51 Teams (102 Students) participated in the event from the departments of CSE, ISE, ECE, Civil & ME. Out of 51 teams, 10 Teams have been selected for Round 2. Round 1 was coordinated by Mrs. Chandramma, Assoc. Prof., Dept. of CSE. Round 2 was held at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore on 08/03/2019.
