“ZERO LITTER” an initiative of  Swachh-Bharat Pakhwada-2016

To create awareness about Cleanliness among students, a dream of “Clean India” once seen by Mahatma Gandhiji is initiated in the Department of Information Science and Engineering of Vivekananda Institute of Technology, Bengaluru-560 074.  The Department has initiated a programme “ZERO LITTER” under the banner Swachh-Bharat Pakhwada-2016 on 25 October 2016. The proramme was inaugurated by Principal Dr. P Giridhara Reddy along with Head of the Department Dr. Vidya A.  All the students and faculty members have witnessed this programme.

The various events conducted under this banner are:

  • Essay Competition on Cleanliness
  • Painting Competition on Cleanliness
  • Displaying of Banners on Swachhata
  • Cleaning the college premises

Students and faculty members from other departments were also invited to participate in the event. The initiative has received a great response and students have actively participated in all the events.  Each competition was evaluated by a committee consisting of heads of various departments and selected a best presenter in each activity.

Students have created the awareness about cleanliness by expressing their views in the form of banners, posters, essays and paintings.  They felt that, cleanliness is a duty of every individual in the form of personal cleanliness, organizational cleanliness, community cleanliness and hospital cleanliness.  By keeping surroundings, home and organizations clean, mind and soul will be very active and all the works can be accomplished very effectively and efficiently.  For the very existence of living beings, it is very essential to put a step towards cleanliness.

Come, let’s join our hands together to fulfill the dream of “Clean India” once seen by Mahatma Gandhiji and carried forward by Hon’ble Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modiji.
