Former Chief General Manager of SBH & Secretary, Janatha Education Society, Bangalore.
Sri H.G.BALAGOPAL was born on 2nd December 1933 at Hassan, he is son of Rajamantrapraveen Late Sri H.B.Gundappa Gowda who was the former minister of Mysore State during 1941-46.
Sri Balagopal was graduated from St.Josephs College in 1953, did his B.A. and B.Com., during the year 1955 at R.C. College of Commerce and Law at Government Law College, Bangalore in 1957. Joined “Mysore Bank as a Probationary Officer in June 1957, and served the Bank as Manager for about 12 years at various branches including Mumbai, Bellary and Bhadravathi. He was Chief Development Officer in charge of Small Scale Industries and Agriculture Finance for 5 years. He was the Founder Chairman of Cauvery Grameena Bank, Mysore from 1976-78. Rose to the position of General Manager of the Bank in 1984 and was in charge of Planning and Development, Finance, Vigilance and Operation for over six years. Thereafter he served State Bank of Patiala and State Bank of Hyderabad and was in charge of Vigilance and operations besides acting Chief General Manager of SBH in 1993. Retired from the service during the year 1994.
Sri Balagopal has widely travelled outside, visiting Germany, France and UK attending Banking programmes and seminars. Visited Far East covering Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong-Kong and Japan on banking along with his wife Smt.Sharada. Visited United States on Foreign Exchange seminar and covered more than 12 states. Also visited Australia along with his wife. Sri Balagopal was awarded the “Best General Manager Shield for Commercial Banks” for the year 1990 awarded by Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi.
Sri Balagopal an outstanding Sportsman represented state in Volleyball and Shuttle Badminton, plays Tennis, Billiards and Golf. He was Senior Active Rotarian for over 18 years, Senior member of Janatha Education Society, Bangalore served as Secretary for 2 years during the year 2002-2003, presently the Secretary of the Society since November 2017, besides being Chairman of Law Forum, Vivekananda College of Law, Chairman, Sports and Cultural Committee. Sri Balagopal was elected to the Executive Committee of the Century Club three times during 1999-2003 thereafter was the Vice- President and served as the President of the Club during the year 2004-2005. Presently serving the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (K.S.L.T.A) as one of the Senior Councilor since the year 2003. He is the President of SBM Employees House Building Co-operative Society at Hassan since 1995.
Sri Balgopal is closely wedded to his agricultural farm at Hassan which covers Mango, Coconut, Sugarcane and Paddy crops, sine the year 1969.
