RESEARCH CENTER
The VKIT VTU-Research Center (VTU-RC) in the field of Mathematics and Chemistry was established in the year 2012. A Centre of Excellence for research comprises of licensed software tools like Matlab, Mathematica, Psilab with i3 processor computers.

Doctoral Programme:
The Department comprises of two renowned Doctorates in the emerging field of Mathematics and Chemistry.

  1. Dr. D.V. Chandrashekhar, Prof. & HOD, was awarded Doctoral Degree from Bangalore University in 2004. The thesis was titled “Flow past and through sphere and cylinder embedded in a porous medium”. Presently he is guiding 03 Research Scholars out of which 01is Internal Research Scholars.
  2. Dr. H.G. Bheemanna, Associate Professor, was awarded Doctoral Degree from Bangalore University in 2005 for the Thesis titled “Reactivity of 3d and 4d transition metal ions with N-hetero cycles”. Presently he is guiding 02 Research Scholars.

  1. Mr. Gopinatha .K.R, Assistant Professor, Mathematics, GAT, Bangalore has registered for Ph. D.Programme under the guidance of Dr. D.V. Chandrashekharin the month of January 2015 at VKIT VTU-RC. The area of specialization is in Advanced Fluid Mechanics.
  2. Ms. Umadevi R, Assistant Professor, Mathematics,EW Institute of Technology, Bangalore has registered for Ph. D.Programme under the guidance of Dr. D.V. Chandrashekhar in the month January 2015 at VKIT VTU-RRC. The area of specialization is in Advanced Fluid Mechanics.

The details of the in-house Research Scholars are:

  1. Mrs. Shilpa .B.V, Assistant Professor, Mathematics, has registered for Ph. D Programme under the guidance of Dr. D.V. Chandrashekharin the month November 2015 at VKIT VTU-RC. The area of specialization is in Advanced Fluid Mechanics.

The details of the Research Scholars utilizing VKIT VTU-RC facilities are:

  1. Mr. Lokesh .H.B, Assistant Prof., Chemistry, has registered for Ph. D Programme in year 2005 at VTU-RC, AITBangaluru. He has submitted the thesis “An electrochemical study of inhibiting action of Organic compounds on the corrosion behavior of Zinc based alloys”. He has published six Journal and three conference papers. The area of specialization is in Corrosion Engineering.
  2. Mrs. Devika Sundar, Assistant Prof., Physics, has registered for Ph. D Programme in the month Jan 2015 at Bangalore University, Bangalore. She has completed course work. The area of specialization is in Metallic Glasses.
  3. Mr. Mohan babu .V, Assistant Prof.,Mathematics, has registered for Ph. D Programme in the year 2013 at VTU-RC, Bangalore. He has completed the course work. The area of specialization is in Fluid Mechanics.
